Why Specialty Haircuts Aren’t Included in Our Kid’s Cut Service

At Clyde’s Tattoo & Barber, we love cutting kids’ hair. Whether it’s a first haircut, a back-to-school cleanup, or a fresh summer cut, we want every child to leave looking sharp and feeling confident. One question we get from time to time is why certain styles—like burst fades, mohawks, blowout tapers, skin fades, hard parts, and detailed designs—aren’t included in our standard Kid’s Cut (12 & Under) service. The short answer? Not all haircuts are created equal. Our Kid’s Cut service is built around traditional children’s haircuts. These are the everyday styles that can be done within a standard appointment while still giving each kid a look that fits their personality. Specialty barbering is a different story. A burst fade isn’t just shorter sides—it takes careful blending, symmetry, detailed clipper work, and serious attention to the little things.
